CompTIA Has Four Certification Pathways,
From Entry-Level to Expert

With the increase in cyberattacks and the number of new connected devices, the need for skilled cybersecurity professionals is growing at a rapid pace, and cybersecurity specialists must nurture their practical, hands-on skills. The CompTIA Cybersecurity Career Pathway helps technical specialists achieve cybersecurity mastery, from beginning to end. And Freewater Technologies offers all CompTIA certifications and training in Virginia.

CompTIA IT Fundamentals

CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+) is an introduction to basic IT knowledge and skills. It helps professionals to decide if a career in IT is right for them or to develop a broader understanding of IT.

  • ITF+ is the only pre-career certification that helps students or career changers determine if they have a competency for information technology and if it is the right career path for them.
  • ITF+ is the only single certification that covers all areas of IT foundations, creating a broader understanding of IT making it ideal for non-technical professionals.
  • ITF+ establishes an IT education framework for students in middle school and high school.
CompTIA A+

CompTIA A+ 2019 is the industry standard for establishing a career in IT. CompTIA A+ certified professionals are proven problem solvers. They support today’s core technologies from security to cloud to data management and more. CompTIA A+ is the industry standard for launching IT careers into today’s digital world.

  • The only credential with performance-based items to prove pros can think on their feet to perform critical IT support tasks in the moment
  • Trusted by employers around the world to identify the go-to person in end point management & technical support roles
  • Regularly re-invented by IT experts to ensure that it validates core skills and abilities demanded in the workplace
CompTIA Network +

CompTIA Network+ helps develop a career in IT infrastructure covering troubleshooting, configuring, and managing networks. Network+ ensures an IT professional has the knowledge and skills to:

  • Design and implement functional networks
  • Configure, manage, and maintain essential network devices
  • Use devices such as switches and routers to segment network traffic and create resilient networks
  • Identify benefits and drawbacks of existing network configurations
  • Implement network security, standards, and protocols
  • Troubleshoot network problems
  • Support the creation of virtualized networks
CompTIA Security +

CompTIA Security+ is a global certification that validates the baseline skills you need to perform core security functions and pursue an IT security career.

  • No other certification that assesses baseline cybersecurity skills has performance-based questions on the exam. Security+ emphasizes hands-on practical skills, ensuring the security professional is better prepared to problem solve a wider variety of issues.
  • More choose Security+ for DoD 8570 compliance than any other certification.
  • Security+ focuses on the latest trends and techniques in risk management, risk mitigation, threat management and intrusion detection.
  • The new Security+ certification covers the Junior IT Auditor/Penetration Tester job role, in addition to the previous job roles for Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, and Security Administrator.
CompTIA PenTest+

CompTIA PenTest+ is for cybersecurity professionals tasked with penetration testing and vulnerability management. It is the only penetration testing exam taken at a Pearson VUE testing center with both hands-on, performance-based questions and multiple-choice, to ensure each candidate possesses the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform tasks on systems. PenTest+ exam also includes management skills used to plan, scope, and manage weaknesses, not just exploit them.

PenTest+ is unique because our certification requires a candidate to demonstrate the hands-on ability and knowledge to test devices in new environments such as the cloud and mobile, in addition to traditional desktops and servers.

CompTIA CySA+

CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) is an IT workforce certification that applies behavioral analytics to networks and devices to prevent, detect and combat cybersecurity threats. It’s the only intermediate high-stakes cybersecurity analyst certification with performance-based questions covering security analytics, intrusion detection and response. High-stakes exams are proctored at a Pearson VUE testing center in a highly secure environment. CySA+ is the most up-to-date security analyst certification that covers advanced persistent threats in a post-2014 cybersecurity environment.

CompTIA CASP+

CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) is the ideal certification for technical professionals who wish to remain immersed in technology, as opposed to strictly managing. It is the only hands-on, performance-based certification for practitioners — not managers — at the advanced skill level of cybersecurity. While cybersecurity managers help identify what cybersecurity policies and frameworks could be implemented, CASP+ certified professionals figure out how to implement solutions within those policies and frameworks.
